简介
In Short: The official 'Cat Lady' album took over a year and 3 different studio attempts to complete. AlyCat finally found their recording home at 'Forge Recording Studios' (Ron Disilvestro) and at 'It's your Funeral' Studios (Brendan Mcgeehan). WIth little to no funding, the band was extremely fortunate to have made this album happen through their own time and talent contributions. The album features John Glaubitz on guitar, Brendan McGeehan on keys and bass, Alison "Aly" Paige Newitt on bass and vocals, and Terrence Gaines on drums, percussion and keys. All tracks were ultimately recorded at Forge Studios and engineered and mixed by Brendan Mcgeehan and Ron Disilvestro except "Takes Me Over" and Disappear which were engineered and mixed by Bobby Eli and Terry Utain. Jamie Newitt appears courtesy of The Heavy Pets on drums for "Takes Me Over" and "Disappear". Terry Utain plays guitar on "Takes Me Over". Special thanks to Brendan Mcgeehan for engineering, recording, and mixing 7 of the tracks in only a few short months. His unreserved hard work and true dedication made this record possible. Finally, thank you to John, Terrence, and Aly for their relentless dedication to this project. In Long: The Grooveyard was the first studio to begin on this album. With Bobby Eli at the controls, and both Bobby Eli and Terry Utain producing, Aly Paige Newitt and John Glaubitz recorded "Disappear" and "Takes Me Over". During this time, Aly and John had been working regularly with keyboardist and bassist Brendan Mcgeehan, and drummer Terrance Gaines. They had been cooking up a new organic fusion that was infectious. They began feeling passionate about capturing it in it's raw essence. About the same time, Aly was encouraged to move over to Gene Leone's studio which was known for it's heavy beats and mixes. Gene's studio was helping to guide the project, in particular with the track, "Higher". Aly recorded a version of "Higher" and another song "Rise Up" with the help of Gene Leone and Terry Utain. SPUN frontman and keyboardist Jimmy Dunstan is featured on keys on "Higher" and Patrick Hughes is featured on trumpet on"Rise Up". You can find those tracks on bandcamp here: http://outinthewoodsrecords.com/album/the-cat-lady Aly, John, Terrence, and Brendan continued playing live shows regularly and the sound was only growing stronger. The sets were beginning to really take shape and to thrill audiences everywhere they played. Aly could not shake this amazing group's sound and knew it needed to be captured. She approached her producers at the time to take a listen to what was happening. The producers weren't paying attention and wanted to continue the current project without her band. Aly began to feel like something wasn't right and she could not stop thinking about recording her live band. With no funding or support to leave, Aly had to make the difficult decision to cut losses, follow the music, and do whatever it took to capture her band's raw sound. Once Aly notified the band, it began to make moves. The foursome quickly found their home at Forge recording managed by Ron Disilvestro. Brendan engineered at Forge sometimes and recommended it. On October 27th, 2012, the foursome went in early one saturday and recorded 7 tracks in only 5 hours. With only a few overdub sessions and Brendan Mcgeehan taking over the mixing and mastering, 6 months later the official Cat Lady album was completed. Aly, John, Brendan, and Terrence are very excited to have persevered through to complete "Cat Lady". This is just the start of many great things to come. We present to you "Cat Lady". Enjoy!!!
