PROFILE Katie's musical performance is a blend of her angelic voice with the small Celtic harp (clarsach) showcasing songs not only from her own Scottish homeland but also from many other different cultures and musical genres. A Princes’ Trust Ambassador, Katie performed in Scotland at the Opening of Scottish Parliament in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, for JK Rowling at the launch of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at Edinburgh Castle and aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia on many occasions. Katie became the winner of the UK Songwriting Contest in 2007 and was awarded Music and Culture Icon for Scotland 2004. Her highly acclaimed musical interpretations and compositions culminated in her 6th CD, Imaginary Friend, released in 2008. Katie’s CD, Hush hush…(2007) is featured on Cathay Pacific’s inflight entertainment. Now resident in Hong Kong, Katie’s has performed in such prestigious locations as The Great Hall of the Forbidden City in Beijing, at the Shanghai Expo and has sung for The Irish President’s during her official visit to Beijing in June 2010, The First Minister of Scotland’s ministerial tour of China in 2010 and 2009 and the British Prime Minister and the British Gold Medallists Official Reception at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. In 2009 Katie wrote and recorded a charity song called Day by Day, 《新的未来》 in English and Mandarin to raise money and awareness for the Sichuan earthquake survivors one year on. Sponsored by Heng An Standard Life, Day by Day was launched at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing and then later performed by Katie for schoolchildren at the epicentre of the earthquake in Sichuan where Katie donated over 200 musical instruments and books to the children with the monies raised. The song has gone on to raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and the Japanese earthquake in 2011. As a leading light in Scottish and International music, Katie has played for many well known figures such as The British Royal Family, The Malaysian Royal Family, Sir Donald Tsang, Sir David Tang, Sir Sean Connery, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Richard Branson and Sir Alex Ferguson.
