Joe Fiedler专辑介绍:by Scott YanowThe late Albert Mangelsdorff was one of the greatest trombonists in jazz history. He came out of the bebop tradition before immersing himself in free jazz, and he was a master of multiphonics, playing chords on his trombone. On this CD, not only does Joe Fiedler revive nine of Mangelsdorff's little-known compositions, but he often sounds just like the elder trombonist, even displaying his own mastery of multiphonics. Although Joe Fiedler also has his own musical personality, his playing is close to Mangelsdorff's and he brings back not only his virtuosity and creativity but his wit. With strong and stimulating support from bassist John Hebert and drummer Mark Ferber, Fiedler has created a memorable and brilliant tribute. Highly recommended, particularly to listeners who think that the trombone is a limited instrument compared to the trumpet or saxophone.
