简介

All The Dark Things, by Noah Hunt & Jason Dennie, is a 2009 release that was more than a few years in the making. In 1995, Noah and Jason were a "hot acoustic duo" performing in southwestern ohio and northern kentucky, when they were approached by Larry Goshorn, to try for an album that caught what they did live. Larry Goshorn had been with the well known band, Pure Prairie League w/ Craig Fuller. The resulting cd, and Independent release, was Long Black Train. Intimate and fairly sparse, Noah's vocal and rhythm guitar and Jason on guitar, the cd has achieved somewhat of a 'lost gem' status as Noah's voice is being heard on an international level. Noah Hunt was the lead vocalist and guitarist in a touring rock band called Uncle Six, based on Noah's writing and charasmatic live shows. Jason Dennie was touring ohio as an instrumental guitar player opening for artists such as David Wilcox, Keb Mo, Arlo Guthrie, and Janis Ian. When not on the road, the pair would play as an acoustic duo in local bars, taverns, local festivals and events. Their work was seemingly appreciated by area fans and led to several CAMMY Awards between them. Noah, for Best Rock Vocalist and Best Folk Vocalist and Jason took the award for Best Folk / Bluegrass Instrumentalist for the years '97, '98, and '99. In 1997, Noah had the opportunity to join the up and coming blues guitarist, Kenny Wayne Shephard, as lead vocalist and he siezed the chance to work at a higher level. That relationship has seen Noah touring with the likes of Lynard Skynard, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, and countless other musical legends. The Kenny Wayne Shephard Band has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award and they enjoyed the Billboard Song of the Year a few years ago with the song, Blue On Black. All The Dark Things is more or less a follow up to Long Black Train, a few songs they were playing live that were never recorded, along with new material and some collaborations. Somewhat along the Americana / Folk lines...it's just plain, simple music. There are several cuts that feature just the pair, though this time around Jason offering mandolin and harmony vocals in addition to acoustic and electric guitar work, as well a few tunes that are full band arrangements. The relationship between them has personally and professionally ebbed and flowed with the times. They can fall into a place, musically, as if they were still playing 3-4 nights a week and just living life in their younger 20's, but now with noticable maturity while still reaching for the innocence of new songs...
