BEAST JESUS is a post-hardcore band based out of Metro Manila, Philippines. The band is known for its off-kilter, “ass-end of the internet” aesthetic, drawing influence from internet culture, dark humor, and exaggerated retro nostalgia with bizarre references to music-based subculture, art history, cult cinema, and contemporary Filipino kitsch. The band formed towards the second half of 2015, following a string of break-ups and extended hiatuses from its founders’ earlier projects. While seemingly anchored by its post-hardcore sensibilities, the band is equally informed by black metal, grindcore, screamo, sludge, doom, post-metal, noise rock, shoegazing, surf music, and electronica with subtle nods to bands like Cave-In, Neurosis, City of Caterpillar, Orchid, My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, and Swans among others. Beast Jesus recently released its debut record, In Various States of Disassembly on April 1, 2016. According to the band, all of their releases will be free on the internet forever.
