简介
From Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island acoustic blues n' roots artist Chris Field is driven with passion for creating music. Noted for his slide work and use of alternate tunings on the acoustic guitar, adding a big voice with lyrical hooks is making this up and coming artist a must see act for all music lovers. Chris' background has been enriched with music starting at the age of 5 when he started taking piano lessons. At the age of 12, he then switched to the guitar as his main instrument of choice and still remains his number one passion. Throughout junior high and high school, he was involved with the music program offered in public school, and also took private guitar study. After high school he attended St Francis Xavier University enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts (Music) from '92 to '94. Shortly after university, Chris first became interested in the blues when he was introduced to the music of and no stranger to the genre, Stevie Ray Vaughan. His early days as a developing blues man were spent in his room listening to and spending hours at a time soaking it up. Some other artists Chris spent some time at in the beginning stages were Robben Ford, Eric Clapton and B.B. King. It was also around this time that Chris started picking up lead vocals. After a few first attempts at songwriting, winter 2002 is when the heavier work began. Chris began trying his songs out at open mics to see how they would be received and quite frenquently made return trips to monitor how things were progressing. That summer to further strengthen the material, Chris started using computer based composition to help further develop the songs which would lead him into studio for the making of his debut cd entitled "Come Out And Play" released July 2003. Since the release, Chris has been performing publicly on a regular basis locally and regionally coupled with a number of radio features to create awareness about his work. The release thus far has earned him a nomination for "Instrumental Recording of the Year" at the PEI Music Awards 2003 and showcases at the PEI Music Awards 2003, ECMA 2004, PEI Guitar Festival 2004 and Halifax Blues Festival 2004.
