简介
I heard Joanna Macy, the great Buddhist author and teacher, say, It's really good that we don't know if we're going to make it in this world or not, because if we knew we were going to make it, we might slack off, get lazy, and not do our best work in this world; and likewise if we knew we weren't going to make it, she says, we would likely give up, crumble with despair, and not work to make our best contribution to the world. She says it's ok that we don't know. And the great author, mythologist and teacher Michael Meade wrote his book, Why the World Doesn't End when he saw that the youth coming up today are concerned, with global warming, endless wars, and rampant depression and violence, that there won't be a world for them to live in. He says, mythologically speaking, the world cannot end but is always in a cycle or rebirthing itself. And then I read Rivera Sun's wonderful novel, The Dandelion Insurrection, Love and Revolution, which paints a very plausible and inspiring and beautiful picture of what a revolution backed by the power of love might look like in the United States. Love and Revolution! The author Rivera Sun is a friend of mine and perhaps she told you, dear reader, about this song. It's the theme song for Rivera's Love (Revolution) Radio Podcast, for our little summer festival in New Mexico called LoveAsRevolution, and for our group of friends out on the little goat farm where I write so many of my beautiful songs, in Mendocino County, California.
