She currently writes, records and performs regularly in Brooklyn and Manhattan with her four piece acoustic roots band, Medicine Woman (http://www.myspace.com/mwre). Her humble beginnings as a musician include street busking, late night East Village folk sessions and a decade of playing in folk and rock venues throughout NYC and the country, which led to the recording of her debut album Stay Awake. Deborah can also be found playing electric bass and singing in the rock-theater sensation, Ithaca, alongside LPFunk and members of her band. http://www.lpfunkrocks.com/ithaca Stay Awake is a diamond in the rough and stands the test of time with lyrical performance, poetry and musicality. Deborah takes a stab at capturing the raw and sometimes gritty essence of an emotional view of the world and achieves a beautifully honest and melodically rich album. Accompanied by Brian Jordan (Karl Denson's Tiny Universe), Anders Griffen (Lonesome Crew) and the unique underground stylings of Spencer Chakedis (Deep Sound Diver), as well as Ish Marquez, Mattias Carlson and Alice Hautvast, a late 90's New York City family of musicians come together to support her in the creation of these sounds like spiritual ships passing in a dark night of a Brooklyn basement studio. They share magical moments and capture a fierce love for the bliss of collective musical expression. Deborah has performed in venues and events throughout New York including the Mercury Lounge, CBGB's, Lions Den, Baggot Inn, Makor, The Knitting Factory, Living Room, New York Independent Film Festival, NYC Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Clearwater Revival, as well as The Kendall Cafe (Boston), the Tin Angel (Philly), and has toured most of New England, parts of the west coast, and a three month tour through Brazil, playing in Rio, Sao Paulo, and Salvador!
