Making this album has been a labor of love and a response to an imperative. A diagnosis of breast cancer in 2008 rocked my world and the terror that ensued interrupted my ability to sleep, eat and breathe. How would I ever find peace again and not let fear of a recurrence diminish my days? But peace did eventually come in a profound realization that to die too young or too soon was not all I had to fear. Wouldn’t it be a tragedy of another sort to die without having embraced the unexpected lessons that cancer brought me? Nothing’s Lost is the product of risking some unlived dreams - of writing and of making music with the finest and dearest of people. These are songs of life – of loss and devastation, of hope and joy, of restoration and healing. I have come to trust that redemption has the last word and that there is an inviolable place in each of us that can never be lost. Here’s to that place in you, in me, in all of us. Jennifer Kelly 2012
