Steve Mann came from Chicago to Hollywood in 1980, intent on writing musical scores for motion pictures... only to find that the music game was locked up tight. He would not waste his life with futile attempts to crash into a career that was impenetrable. Instead, Steve went in another direction and quickly found his professional calling. Knowing he had an aptitude for sound editing, it wasn't too long until Steve landed high-budget film projects. His approach to sound design & editing is much the same as his method when writing a music score, using sections of sounds like sections of instruments — layered... syncopated... soft and heavy. Throughout his successful motion picture career, Steve never stopped thinking of music and occasionally gets back into the studio to record... this is one such occasion.

In 2007 Steve re-released his 1975 "Parting's Just A Little Death" vinyl LP onto digital formats, and made it available on iTunes, CDBaby, and others. Since his music composing days in Chicago with The Quaker Oats Company and during his long career in the motion picture industry, Steve Mann has always had an "itch" to get back into the studio to record songs that have always been on his mind. For the past year and a half (in between movie gigs) he has finally completed what we think is a good representation of the style he loves.... concise, melodic and grippingly orchestrated tunes.
