简介
Is it possible to knit together a music career that combines pop, hip-hop, R&B, with a dash of reggae on the side? Mainstream radio says no, but Fabion Anthony-Sweetland Pitter is on a mission to prove them wrong. Born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but raised in Miami, Fabion’s musical inclination was always present. The love of music displayed by his parents, Marcia and Anthony, was Fabion’s main musical inspiration. Fabion’s musical aspirations were a result of his exposure to his father’s musical profession as a DJ and his mother’s admiration of the art form. While in elementary school, Fabion participated in school plays, musicals and concerts. Fabion received his high school diploma from Parkway Academy in 2003. After graduating from high school, Fabion was confused about what direction he wanted to head in life. Entering multiple talent shows, he competed in rap battles and won many of them. In his more flamboyant and egotistical years, Fabion was mainly a gangsta rapper that was occasionally known to sing. As his life took a series of wrong turns, these mistakes forced him to mature, taught him humility, and has made him a well-rounded artist. Some years later, Fabion and his brother Anthony came up with the magical idea of forming their own entertainment company. Unity 9 Entertainment was formed in 2007 to encompass the huge talent pool in the South Florida community. The company focused on photography, videography, with a special focus on music. Unity 9 became nationally recognized. Even with this national recognition, the brothers only performed 30-50 over the course of two years. The lack of promotion halted the siblings’ musical goals. A traveling enthusiast, Fabion has travelled across the country and to various Caribbean destinations. His most memorable trip was to the island of Jamaica. The trip was both humbling and life-altering. Driving through communities where homes were made from scraps of metal and wood, the poverty he had been exposed to in the United States was nothing compared to the hardships he encountered in some Jamaican neighborhoods. Fabion felt blessed. This trip would change him forever and compel Fabion to create more conscious music. Writing music off raw emotion is essential to Fabion’s creative process. Often times, Fabion will get home from a bad day and write positive uplifting songs. Personal life experiences fuel most of the lyrics of his music. Fabion believes that music encompasses different emotions and life altering situations we all go through on a daily basis. Whether the experience is internal or external, Fabion is always inspired by everyday situations. His family and friends say he can write a song from just one word from their conversation together. When asked about his biggest musical inspirations, Fabion credits music greats Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. He felt Michael Jackson’s music was penetrating. He was the first artist to show Fabion that music was more than just sounds and vibrations—Michael’s music was alive! On the other hand, he believes Bob Marley’s passionate love for equality is hard to find in the music of today’s artist. Bob Marley’s socially conscious music and will to fight for what he believed in inspired Fabion to express real views through his own music. Fabion’s first big project was his street mixtape “Sky High”, released in 2008. Hosted by NightBreederz and DJ Epps, the two-volume mixtape consisted of 32 songs. In 2011, Fabion teamed up with DJ Epps once again on “Yliaster”. Fabion strives to produce an “off the wall” sound in his music. He believes the music heard on the radio tends to lack originality and commonly shares the same watered down and remixed sounds. Fabion likes to step outside the box and incorporate a mixture of genres in his music. His writing patterns and energy are unlike anything regularly heard today. Whether it be a club banger or a romantic love ballad, Fabion just wants to produce quality music. His main goal is to create energetic positive feel-good music. Fabion urges aspiring young musicians to persevere no matter what struggles they may face during their journey. “Diligently working on your craft and perfecting it every day makes a big difference in music. In the beginning of your musical journey, the music will not be perfect. It is important to take your time and be serious about your music. While others may doubt you, remember to have faith and believe in yourself.” Fabion is back in the musical ‘kitchen’ and has whipped up a hot new single entitled “Make You Popular”. Pitter teamed up with producer Figgie McKnight to give the track the unique sound Fabion strives to create. The first question that comes to mind while hearing the track is “What genre is this?” The song is a perfect fusion of pop and hip-hop. Although Fabion is staying “hush hush” on his upcoming projects, he assures us his best work is yet to be heard.
