简介
"No Surrender rounds out into a weighty dancefloor hit, one that takes the no bullshit attitude of Public Enemy to the Kingston streets, embodying some of the true essence of Jamaica's sound." - batfink, rateyourmusic.com The No Surrender Riddim EP is a tough reggae / hip hop release from producer Monkey Marc. Equally inspired by these two world-changing musical genres, Monkey Marc recorded the EP in Kingston, Jamaica in late 2016. The No Surrender riddim includes versions by Sizzla, Capleton, Fantan Mojah, Spring Wata and Jah Thunder over Monkey Marc's heavy hip hop beats and driving bass lines. Additional production by Mista Savona (Havana Meets Kingston). The title track, No Surrender, takes its name from Fantan Mojah's tough gangster lyrics: "To survive in the streets, they ask how we do it? We tell them, No surrender, no retreat!" In an era of transient digital production throughout the modern music industry, Monkey Marc’s production hearkens back to the classic sound of golden era hip hop and the raw energy of 90s dancehall. No Surrender was produced on an MPC3000 and an ATC1 analog synthesizer, and tracked through a vintage BBC broadcast mixing console in Monkey Marc’s solar-powered studio in Melbourne, Australia. No Surrender is released on Sydney vinyl label Digi Killaz, with previous releases including Monkey Marc’s Dancehall Fraud feat. Jimmy Screech and Mashdown Rome feat. Speng Bond. No Surrender is the first riddim release off the Soundclash Inna Kingston Town full-length album, slated for release in late 2017. Other artists on the Soundclash LP include Ninja Man, Dre Island, Iba Mahr, Turbulence, Lutan Fyah, Prince Allah and a host of up-and-coming artists.
