Jeffrey "JeffSoFree" Faulkner was born in June of 1984. Raised in a single parent household of four children by his mother, he had many challenges growing up. Not the average challenges of not being well taken care of, his was more internal. He was well fed. He had shelter. He had the clothes. He had the shoes. He had the games systems. And if the things he had weren't enough, he was athletic so he always could "fit in" because of that. He had all the things a kid or teenager would want and desire. A household where a strict mother would get him almost everything he wanted if he took care of business in school and at home. That's the way his mother showed love. He had everything. Everything except a daddy. He didn't have someone he could talk to and share his thoughts with. Someone that could teach him how to be a man. How to change a tire. How to dribble a ball. How to catch. How to show love and be affectionate. Things every child should have and needs. As a result, he became introverted. Quiet. To himself all the time. He spoke only when spoken to. He only showed emotion when he played sports. That was his outlet until God found him.

In 1996 he gave his life to God. He now had purpose and vision. He began to work with children at The Caring Place. An Inner-city ministry ran by Pastor Chad Temple. They work with children ages 3-12 every Saturday. The children come play games, sing, dance, give offering, and at the end hear a word about Jesus. He worked at The Caring Place from the age of 13-27. Through his involvement with The Caring Place he began to dance and rap. Many doors were opened for him to show his talents and gifts. He put out his first cd entitled “One Way To Live” in 2003 and from there began to do music more consistently.

Music has always been his outlet. Often when he gets off the stage people ask “was that you up there?,” because he’s so quiet until he gets on stage. Music to him is just a means to express the love and compassion of Jesus. To let people know wherever they are in life, there’s always hope. His method may be controversial but the message will remain the same. JESUS IS LORD! And through Him and His grace you also can be SOFREE.
