Music Written by Pony; Lyrics by: Pony and Sheree MY NEIGHBOR: My Neighbor was created based on actual events. Pony began playing the Bass when he was eleven years old. A phenomenal man and musician, with an extraordinary playing style. Pony plays left-handed, with a right-hand bass, turned backwards, flipped up-side down with the G-string on top. Pony was born in January of 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, his family moved to California when he was very young. He is a self-taught bassist, who's older brother made it possible for him to have a bass to practice on while he was in elementary school. He attended junior high and high school in Los Angeles, California and continued to play the bass throughout his young adult life, playing in different bands, sneaking in the back door of night clubs (because he was under age) with older musicians just so he could play his bass on stage. Pony eventually enlisted in the Armed services where he continued to play the bass at the NCO Club on weekends. As quiet as it's kept, I understand that one of the reasons he began to play at the NCO Club was to avoid having to get up and perform early morning details. Smart Thinking, huh? 1985 marked the beginning of Pony's professional career, first touring with the Johnny Otis Show where he played Carnige Hall with Ella Fitzgerald, and Bull Moose Jackson, he then went on to Switzerland, Italy, France, Holland, and Finland. Pony joined Hank Ballard and the Mid-Nighters where he toured Canada and played Casinos in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Nevada. Studio work with Johnny Otis included 'Nut Pony' and 'Funk It Up' (both written by Pony). Pony also recorded with the Manhattan Transfer/Hank Ballard and the Mid-Nighters on 'Keep the Fat'. Pony performed with Etta James at the Long Beach Blues Festival and a variety of lounges throughout the Los Angeles area. Pony also toured the United States and abroad with the Phillip Walker Blues Band. He later joined the Ike Turner Revue where he again performed in Las Vegas, New Orleans, Biloxi and Los Angeles. Pony has also performed with great talents such as: B.B. King, Lowell Folsom, Barbara Morrison, and many more... Pony is a talented songwriter and producer, as well; to his credit he has composed and recorded several arrangements, including a blues songs: Gonna Be There, Last Night, Move On With Your Life, Checkin Out Myself and more. To Pony’s credit, he has a host of instrumentals and bass solos that will be released. In 1999, with his partner Patricia, Pony formed an independent record label, Pony Records. The record company had been a life long dream of Pony's, it took Pony and Patricia together to make this dream a reality. Pony's band 'Final Snapp', perform a wide variety of music: Blues, R&B, and Oldies, and Rock n' Roll. Under Pony's leadership the band performed throughout California. The Final Snapp Band also performed for the Senior Citizens in the Community, such as: adult care homes, adult day care centers, rehabilitation hospitals, residential care facilities, retirement facilities, senior centers and adult recreation centers. Pony is a true believer in playing the music that the seniors can relate to and appreciate; he enjoys taking his music to those individuals that aren't able to make it to the night club venues or festivals where he also performs frequently. So keep your ear to the ground! When you hear Pony's Final Snapp Band gallop through your town on Pony Records, come out and say HELLO! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
