NOLA's Boukou Groove Drops Sizzling New Video Ft. Nigel Hall, Announces Maple Leaf CD Release Party Following the incredibly well received international release of their 2012 LP A Lil’ Boukou in Your Cup, and a hugely successful tour in Japan last month, New Orleans’ own Boukou Groove are on the heels of their sophomore release, Let The Groove Ride. Live For Live Music and Live For Live NOLA are proud to celebrate the release of Let The Groove Ride at the historic Maple Leaf Bar in uptown New Orleans on Friday, December 4th at 10:30 pm. Boukou Groove and many special guests will be throwing down for what is sure to be an unforgettable Friday night, as the band will bring their one-of-a-kind style to spread the groove at The Leaf for the first performance since their sold-out Japan tour last month. Providing audiences with a genre-bending collective touching on elements of New Orleans-style funk, R&B, soul and blues, Boukou Groove is the product of hard work and incredible musicianship by singer/producer Donnie Sundal and guitar icon Derwin “Big D” Perkins. Sundal has worked with Sam Bush, Col. Bruce Hampton and Junior Marvin of The Wailers, while Big D is a member of Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen and has worked with Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, and many more. Together, with an all-star drummer and other special guests sitting in on any given night, Boukou Groove deliver sharp, tight tunes and spread kinetic energy to everyone listening. Let The Groove Ride features terrific talent from start to finish, including legendary lead guitarist Junior Marvin of Bob Marley & The Wailers, local NOLA favorites Khris Royal, Ashlin Parker, Nigel Hall, John Michael Bradford, and Eric Vogel, plus members of Stephen Marley, Bonerama, and more. “Let the Groove Ride”, the title track from the band's 2015 album, features Sundal's infectious blend of energy and enthusiasm as he showcases his multi-octave ranging vocals while sustaining his brand of lavish Moog bass line and Rhodes keyboard (Sundal also wrote the track). Big D provides his signature smooth and funky guitar licks largely based on improvisation and feel alone, while AJ Hall is the backbone on drums and special guest Nigel Hall joins on B3 organ and backing vocals. Live for Live Music & Live for Live NOLA have the pleasure of presenting you with this exclusive video from the recording of this track at The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans, filmed and edited by our friends at ABIS Productions.
