简介
"In Dependence" is the follow-up album to Gatta's "Where the Humble Go". This album veers from the funky pop of former works and ushers in a more poignant, thoughtful, and edgy sound. No shortcuts were taken in the recording of this album. Ashley Gatta & The Free People worked with Grammy award winning producer and engineer, Eric Delegard, tracking the majority of the album on reel to reel analog tape. The result is a warm, authentic sound that is only achieved by musicians that can play their instruments and properly "feel" the songs. While some songs hit a personal chord, most of the writing was done from a different perspective. "In Dependence" introduces the album with "Leaving Again", a song about a wandering troubadour who yearns for love but doesn't know it. "Pretty in the City" describes a young woman's efforts at feeling beautiful by chasing affections from the wrong people. The album closes with "Saving up for Me", a tongue-in-cheek tune about a cheap date gone wrong. The album shows a maturity in writing, a transition in style, and the heartfelt bold lyrics and vocals fans have come to know and love. "In Dependence" doesn't disappoint.
