CASSANDRA and THE GRAVEL ROAD BAND delivers contemporary rock and roll with an earthy vibe. Lead singer and songwriter Cassandra Vohs-Demann's musical style builds on the traditions of Stevie Nicks, Melissa Etheridge, and Lucinda Williams, but is uniquely her own. Her original songs reflect on love, loss, self-reflection, and dreams. Her soaring vocals connect to the audience straight from the heart and her dynamic personality warms up the room. The Gravel Road Band showcases the venerable talents of Graham Butler, drums, Jeff Chamberlin, vocals & percussion, Dan Kolba, bass and George Muligano, vocals and guitar. The birth of "Cassandra and the Gravel Road Band" was in February of 2010. I had been working on a new original album and made the decision to put a band together to market the CD and start playing out again. While we are a new band, we are made up of a group of musicians who collectively have over 50 years of professional performing experience. I wanted to work with musicians who had a lot of heart and who I knew could really step into their role with dedication and passion. I wanted to build my "dream" and so the the journey has begun. With a release of October 23rd, 2010, the CD "Here I Am" is complete and I believe will be my best work to date. I have been blessed to be able to work with an incredible friend and producer named John Hegner who has embraced this project and has been an inspiration to work with. I am also extremely grateful for the incredible musicians who worked on the album, some of which are now in the current band. It has been an honor. The "Cassandra and the Gravel Road Band" show is a combination of my original material and cover songs of artists I respect and have loved throughout my musical career. My style is influenced by many, but I have to say that I was most affected at an early age listening to the music of my older siblings like The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Lynard Skynard, REO Speedwagon, Simon and Garfunkel, Janis Joplin and the list goes on. You may wonder what sets this band apart from others? It is pure heart and amazing energy. The ability to knock out a great rock song and then pull back and show a softer more intimate side. To communicate. It is in the details. All the members of this band have a true to desire to take the music out into the world and in some way make a difference in peoples lives. We hope to inspire them, entertain them, give them an escape from their everyday existence and take them on a ride. We are committed to not just playing a bunch of songs, but to give them a show, an experience that will leave them feeling satisfied and exhilarated.
