简介
Niewelnacht Lieten A colourful sketch of almost forgotten songs This CD was created with the support of a Grundtvig project from the E.U, called the Lifelong Learning Programme. The tracks on this CD are divided into five themes that reoccur through the ages: children, love, peace, feasting, water and sailing. Two numbers from the oldest preserved Frisian text (12th century) are presented in the Old Frisian language of that time. The verses from the following centuries have been translated into modern Frisian. So there is one of the eleven Frisian villanellas from Jaques Vredeman. These villanellas (from 1602) are the oldest Frisian songs where the musical notation has been preserved. No previous recordings have ever been made! Further there are several songs on this CD from other, better known 17th century Frisian sources, such as from Starter, Japicx, Halbertsma, Wieger Visser en Waling Dykstra.
