简介
The Owen Clark Jass Band performs a broad Jazz repertoire from the 1920's to the 1960's. For the 1920's songs like "Darktown Strutter's Ball" and "Black Bottom" I use an authentic vintage drum kit from the 1920's & 1930's. The rest of the songs I use my regular drum kit. I also play marimba and all the percussion on the CD. The "Jass Band" was formed after the release of my book "Musical Ghosts, Manitoba's Jazz & Dance Bands, 1914-1966." I wanted a band that could perform music that had been performed at the dance halls, theaters and night clubs of Winnipeg. The "Jass Band" was born. i chose the old spelling "Jass" as homage to the "Jass" bands of the early part of the 20th century. The last tune was written as a remembrance of the 1950's and a tribute to some of the groups that I performed with early in my career.
