简介
How many artists get the chance to produce their music in Mally Mall's Studio? That alone is undeniably a milestone. Everything happened for a reason & I feel that people who do not appreciate the little things in life, aren't ready to appreciate the big things coming their way. In an industry rampant with egos; I had the privilege of interviewing a successful yet humble R&B singer. Abrieel is from the Bay Area with an angelic voice living in Sin City. Check out what she had to say about writing for Camryn Levert, her upcoming EP and the obstacles she has had overcome to achieve greatness. 1. How long have you had a career in music and how has your career progressed from the time you started to now ? I started writing & singing when I was just eight years old. However, my music career didn't really take off until 2011 when I relocated to Las Vegas with my mother/manger. Throughout my high school career I performed in many school talent shows & local events. When I first started I didn't have as many connects. As I grew, new opportunities came my way. Social Media has played a huge role in my introduction. One helping me connect with other creatives & two allowing me to be discovered by other creatives. Listening to new artist/sounds throughout the years inspired me to come a lot harder. I love that I hear my voice developing & I am a lot harder on myself now. Im very consistent when I start a song or a project. So I see myself stepping out of my comfort zone & finding a sound that belongs to only me. 2. What are some of the things that separate you from other artists trying to get where you currently are in the music business level and on a musical level? I feel like everyone has a different story. God has put us all on a different paths so the only thing really separating me from them are the struggles I have. The I have motivate me to move different. I set goal differently than others & I am in no rush for success. Some people want success so bas they lose themselves along the way. I dont want that I want to learn the business while having fun doing what I love. 3. Was it surreal for you making music in the same studio that Platinum selling and Grammy award winning artists worked out of? What kind of message did that send you personally regarding your achievements? It was very surreal, like it didn't actually hit me until I put on those headphones in the booth to record. I was born in the Bay Area, so working out of Mally Malls studio with Jazz Lazer was an amazing opportunity. We pieced together my new record " On My Mind " that releases later this month actually. I was very humble about everything. It was one of those life moments where you're thinking " am I really here right now ? is this really happening " I felt blessed and I knew it was a sign from God that anything is possible & that I was progressing. It gave me so much motivation. It made me appreciate every home studio I ever recorded in because it prepared me for that very day. All of those long sessions I had during my high school career, writing, singing & studying for psychology exams in between it was worth it. Everything happened for a reason & I feel that people who do not appreciate the little things in life, aren't ready to appreciate the big things coming their way. 4. Give your fans a brief description of what your latest EP is all about? My EP Soul II Soul gives a clear perspective of who I am & how I feel about love, life & spiritual growth. The mind is a beautiful thing when you learn to take control of it. I wanted to create a project that inspired people to think for themselves and believe in their own powers. When I was younger I always wrote " Your soul is your power " in all of my song books. The quote stuck with me & I continued manifesting good things into my future. You don't have to keep negative vibes in your circle. I use to feel so bad for chasing my dreams & leaving some people behind. People I really wanted to make it with. Wether it was an ex or a friend that did me wrong. I blamed myself. I learned that there was nothing wrong with having solitude. I hope this will show my fans how I took control. You can grow & find happiness in the little things if you stay humble & work hard. I'm learning that no matter how great you become, you are you always going to be tested & you have to be mentally prepare yourself to tackle those test. You will lose people along the way maybe even some family members but do not blame yourself for those losses. Some people will get to comfortable being in one spot & make those who out grow them feel guilty just for wanting more out of life. 5. Do you plan on campaigning this EP out for a 2019 Grammy Nomination? I'm most definitely pushing for a Grammy but as of right now I'm not sure what my team has planned to do with this project. I like to just trust my timing. After the release of my EP I'll be starting on my Debut Album so by that time my fan base might be even bigger. My fans are the reason I do this so I want to make sure I take my time so that it's great for them as well. 6. What more can we expect from you musically before the year is up? I recently cowrote " Let Go " with Camryn Levert. We became friends in 2015. To me she's more than just Gerald Leverts Daughter. She's another Artist with a great message for the world. She's like a sister. The single is going to be featured on her upcoming EP " Moments ". It's due to drop this year, so my fans should definitely look out for that. I will be posting more visuals, song covers & episodes of me creating in the studio on my YouTube channel. I have so much going on right now so after I'm done putting everything in place, I'll be ready to hit the stage again in 2018. 7. What piece of advice can you give that artist recording in their room that wish they had your opportunities? Keep recording & working on your craft. Protect your music & do your own research to learn how to build your brand as an Artist. You'd be surprised how many people are looking for new artist & producers to discover & build with. If you want it you have to go get it on your own. Show people that you are motivated. No one likes to waste time in this industry. Don't be afraid to reach out to people who might be able guide you. Networking is everything. When you start to feel discouraged don't let it stop you from reaching the goals you set. Just breathe believe & refocus for yourself. Every day is a new day to progress. You will have your shine soon. Russ is one of favorite Artist right now. He didn't just blow up off of one song. He spent years writing, producing, mixing, mastering & engineering all of his own stuff. People were so sleep until his singles "What They Want " & " Losing Control " hit 83 & 63 on Billboards Hot 100 Charts. He never slept on himself ! He manifested everything, he knew his time was coming & that is a major key right there. You have to be patient but also stay hungry. Never give up if you really want to make it.
