简介

Folk/Rock singer-songwriter Dee Jackson Field teams up with her husband, veteran R&B/Funk multi-instrumentalist Phil Field (Aurra, Mtume). All the songs on this album are sure-fire hits that cross musical boundaries, successfully blurring the lines between genres and highlighting the couple’s knack for writing great songs. The EP includes Dee on vocals and keyboards with Phil on keyboards and background vocals. Also featured are Lenny Covington on drums and percussion, guitarists Ted Stilles and Darryl Smith, bassist Mike Griot and vocalists Brindsley Nurse and Ron Williams. All tracks written and produced by Dee and Phil Engineers: Phil Field, Dee Jackson Field, Toriano Gandy, Cedric Weary Dee describes having her husband, Phil, working with her on the EP: "It's a blessing to have someone equipped to handle my particular level of eccentricity." Originally from East Orange, New Jersey, Phil Field wrote his first gold record, "Are You Single," for Aurra  (RCA/Salsoul) while he was  at Oberlin Conservatory. Since then he has worked-- as  record producer, composer, arranger, musical director and performer-- with countless major artists on countless major recording projects. He became a key member of the group MTUME and co-wrote songs for the smash hit album, "Juicy Fruit."  He went on to write and produce for many top artists, including Toni Braxton's multi-platinum hit "How Many Ways."    Phil's sound has been sampled often, by  Jay-Z & Sauce Money, Teedra Moses & Raphael Saadiq, The Notorious B.I.G., Keyshia Cole and others.  He co-wrote and produced Roy Ayers' "Hot," perhaps the only song to ever make it into the beginning of a Michael Jackson video (uncut The Way You Make Me Feel").  His collaborations include a wide range of artists-- Mavis Staples, Nancy Wilson, Gerald LeVert-- and encompass many genres, from Broadway actor James Naughton to R&B and Hip Hop artists K-Ci Haily and Mary J. Blige.  What fans and other artists say about Dee: "'The Day We Met' ultra contagious Dee. Your vocal is amazing." - Chuck Brunicard "BEAUTIFUL voice!!!" - Lay'Na Michelle, singer "Love Is...awesome track...great... just simply lovely ..." - Gerald Harris, Tate Music Group "Beautiful song...I love your voice!" - Bunny DeBarge, singer, songwriter About Phil: "(On) Roy Ayers' album You Might Be Surprised, the opener 'Hot' has some Prince/Jesse Johnson/Morris Day influence..." AllMusic.com “RollingStone: What's a funk record that doesn't exist, but you wish it did? Dam-Funk: A record with Junie Morrison and Mtume's band together: Philip Field on keyboards. Just imagine "Juicy Fruit" mixed with "Funky Worm."  - Gavin Edwards - Rolling Stone Magazine "...(Gwen Guthrie's) 'Thrill Me' is in the good tradition of the Mtume-sound, with Aurra/Mtume-keyboardist Philip Field who wrote and produced the track. That bass-synth in there is seriously infectious!" DiscoMusic.com "1981's Send Your Love was the Aurra album (-their most commercially successful-) that boasted the hit 'Are You Single?' " Alex Henderson - AllMusic.com
