简介

Collide is the creative culmination of a partnership that was formed in late 2012 as a result of a small contest Marnie held on her Facebook page. While the intent of the contest was to bring two new artists together for a single song, Marnie & Rob decided to make an entire album out of their newly formed friendship. In early 2013, Rob flew up to Iowa and spent 10 music-filled, tiresome, awe-inspiring, and unforgettable days creating music with Marnie. After two more trips to Iowa and countless e-mails, Collide was released in late 2014. ABOUT MARNIE BROWN: Marnie Brown is a singer/songwriter born in a small town in Illinois. The earliest recording of Marnie singing occurred approximately when she was 3 or 4 years old. She's always had a love of ballads, which has been a great influence on her songwriting. Her music is heart-felt and full of emotion, which is what her fans have come to love about her writing. In 2006, Marnie was introduced to the world of songwriting as well as online collaboration and distribution by a friend who consistently showed her his original music. Interested, she asked him how to start with the process, and he lead her in the right direction. Over the years, Marnie wrote countless, unreleased solo songs and worked with many different artists and producers. Many of her early fans discovered her due to the hooks she recorded for VTZ and Allrounda Productions. It is through these experiences that she has grown into the artist she is today. Some of Marnie's influences include Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Missy Higgins, among others. Even though Marnie has written and recorded multiple albums worth of material, Collide is the first album she has released. ABOUT ROB GROUNDS: Rob Grounds is a rapper/singer born in Farmington, MO on July 21, 1991. Throughout his childhood he bounced around from state to state, moving from one abusive situation to another. It was only a matter of time before he began dealing with the law and seeing first-hand what a quick temper and bad influences would create of his life. These factors are a direct influence on the music he creates. In 2005, Rob Grounds was introduced to writing music through Robert Nellums, and began to find many influences of his own (such as Linkin Park, Tech N9ne, Adema, Breaking Benjamin, Pillar, and D.Z.K) which are still on his playlist to this day. Rob Grounds became familiar with Shadowville.com while searching for producers to work with on his debut album. While rapping under the alias “Inseveral”, Rob Grounds worked with many Shadowville artists, which quickly lead to dark themed music and lyrics. It was at that time, in 2007, that he began doing local shows as an independent artist and met Brad Thomlinson. Within a few short months, Rob Grounds and Brad Thomlinson had become familiar with one another and joined forces as a writing and performing duo known as “Beyond the Void”. Brad offered a more catchy way of incorporating and writing melodies while Rob brought forth the edge and grit that Brad was previously leaving out. The duo continued to write and perform through two mixtapes (BiPolar & Injection) before finally releasing a full length album in June of 2011 entitled It’s Better to Breathe. Singles off the album (such as M0N5T3R, It’s Better to Breathe, and Beautiful) helped to establish the sound Rob Grounds was looking to create. Shortly after the release of the album, Rob Grounds and Brad Thomlinson parted ways to further their solo careers. Rob Grounds went on to write and record his first solo album, Come Running, in 2013. Shortly after the release of his album, Rob Grounds entered a contest held by Iowa artist Marnie Brown, securing first place and a collaboration album. The album entitled Collide was released in October of 2014. Rob Grounds has collaborated with artists such as Immaculate, Cryptic Wisdom, The Jokerr, and Dubbs.
