简介
1. “Texas Twister” is a country-rock tune about a little boy, a grandma, and some swirling Texas tornadoes---roaring winds, screaming guitar, and fiddling fury. “Oh Texas Twister, sho’ nuff’ somethin’ I don’ wanna see; Oh Texas twister, you scared the shoes off of me.” 2. “Girl I Know” tells the true story of two people who lost the loves of their lives, and then found each other. “There’s a girl that I know; she lives a couple doors down; you know she’s always smiling; never wears a frown. Well I watched her walk by ‘bout a thousand times. And I pray everyday, you're going come into my life and stay.” Beautiful. 3. “Country Girl Buzz” is an acoustic number about a smoking hot “country girl”. The song features young Jake Friel on harmonica. “A southern lady walked into the room, pretty baby, young country girl. The way she looks, the things she does, touching her hand, the county girl buzz.” 4. “ONE” is a Gaelic folk tune. Picture a tempestuous Irish sea, breaking against the rocky coast and a swirling mist rising into the emerald hills. The song ends with a quasi-Buddhist near rhyme. “And one is everything, and everything is one.” Young Jake tacked on a tasty one-take harmonica solo to the end of the piece. 5. “That Summer” tells of a special day in the lives of two lovers. “Growing up in the country, I will never forget; and falling for you, I will never regret; and this beautiful day reminds me of you; yes this beautiful day, well it reminds me of you; it was the times of our lives.” 6. “Highway to Home” is another country-rocker. It’s about a truck driver, motoring across America with the pedal to the medal, working hard to get back to his girl. “Driving this rig across the USA, double yellow line dancing in my brain; I’m on the highway to home, eighteen wheels and I feel so alone, anytime I’m away is too long gone.” 7. “Dirty River” is about life and a lazy day, down-river. “You grow a little older and you realize that perfect moments exist in your life and not just in your mind; and those are the days, the beautiful days, and you want ‘em to last forever. ” 8. “In the Wilderness” is the title song for the CD and the spiritual foundation of the entire album. “Lord, Lord, Lord, I’m in the Wilderness, I need a place to rest, take me home, take me home.” Amen to that. 9. “I Think of You” is another spiritual tune calling out to God. It is a celebration of existence and an offer of counsel to our maker. “I look to you, distant starlight, endless night, whisper in my mind, times of sadness, times of light; where do you turn to, longing heart, silent needs, I think of you, think of me.” 10. “Who are the Angels?” is a still another spiritual song. It asks an important, perhaps vital, question about our lives. “Who are the angles that guide us through our lives, mine showed up a little late, but that’s all right; who are the angels that guide us through the nights, and into the light.”
