Finally Think. Guitar in hand, vintage gramophone and a bag full of quirk; think Adeniké! The multi-talented singer-songwriter is set to release her long awaited Debut EP “Adeniké Live and Unplugged at the Albany”. The Nigerian born South East Londoner Adeniké is set to take the World by storm. From an early age it became apparent that music was and is at her heart and soul. The first of three siblings; Adeniké began experimenting with music and quickly became spellbound by an eclectic range of genres, this included the imported Black American music of the early 90s and the massive Ragga scene coupled with sounds from West Africa i.e Afrobeat and Traditional African Gospel music. ‘Adeniké Live and Unplugged at the Albany’ consists of material that draws from her musical influences. The six tracks included on the EP are packed with soul, guts and good old British “wit” and “quirk”. There is no doubt that the decision to deliver the songs “live and unplugged” was a brave move; however, it can be said that it was the right move! Adeniké is quite simply perfect; her voice is pure in quality and sublime in its depth. Her talent is in its untainted form; no sob stories, and no tears, just raw talent. She is a scarcity amongst emerging artist from the UK. Adeniké draws upon the experiences that make humankind human. She particularly sings about time spent she away from the music circuit like a love lost - don’t we all know it! Songs like ‘Cutting my hair’ help to express this. Whilst tracks like ‘Sweets from Brazil’ explore the perils of work; likening a ‘nine to five job’ to ‘groundhog day’, it appears her musical content is positively varied for those that love un-contrived soul music. In amongst the talents that have and will emerge out of the UK; Adeniké is set as one to be reckoned with. She brings quirk, charisma and charm, whilst delivering a “mix-mash” of soulful jazz, blues and brit pop to form a sound that can simply be described as cutting edge retro!
