简介
This album was the second release for the Juno Award winning Hometown Band – an innovative group who assembled first in 1975 as the group of session musicians backing legendary Canadian folk icon Valdy in the studio and then on tour. Upon becoming a separate entity after that first tour (thanks to a plan hatched by manager Cliff Jones) they recorded their first album “Flying” on A&M. At that point the band included the album's producer and band leader Claire Lawrence on sax and flute, Shari Ulrich on violin, sax, flute, dulcimer and vocals, Geoff Eyre on drums and vocals, Doug Edwards on bass, electric guitar and Fender Rhodes, and the late and consummately great Robbie King on piano and B3. For second album, guitarist Eddie Patterson joined the band. The group made an indelible mark in it’s few short years with its extraordinary arrangements and musicianship, touring extensively across Canada and the U.S. both with and without Valdy. It remains a remarkable and unforgettable chapter in the lives of the musicians and their audiences. Lead singer Shari Ulrich says: “So many people share their stories of when they first heard the band. Many of them write me in search of the music on CD – having lost their LP’s in moves, floods, divorces - you name it. So it is a thrill to finally be able to offer it – digitized directly from the masters held in the vaults at Universal Music. For me it’s like being back in Studio B in Little Mountain Sound, hearing the original mixes before their trip to vinyl. No comparison! So here you go…finally…The Hometown Band!”
