简介
Steve Mills is back with his fourth album which is an amazing fresh blend of acoustic and synth driven music. The album flows over you like a huge wave constantly changing from beautiful almost new-age peaks, to crazy insane beat driven depths. Sometimes you are thrown back to the seventies, eighties or nineties but never for long as the album sweeps you onto another phase. A little haunting and a little dark; however in this album he never gets too dark unlike his previous albums- Galaxymachine and Necronomicon they tend to be very intense and more experimental. One issue is his albums are often not long enough, but what you do get is certainly worth keeping. His life as he has commented has been filled with music and he says that he "consumes music like it were food". An odd but entirely appropriate comment by someone who has lived music and art since he was four years old. It is a reality that artists like this hardly ever get a look at twice by the industry. I think his skills used in film music would be awesome, if he was ever to offer his talents to that realm. His comments about the main-stream music industry have not been very encouraging and i think he would be to independent a spirit to pander to their demands. I know he looks for people that want to discover something new in his music, his use of original composed and performed tracks combined with loops, riffs and self-produced sounds and one off studio improvising - he has also taped whole tracks and then engineered them back using the digital domain, so he has in his own way used and pushed the limits on his albums. A much underrated and ignored artist like many others that have fallen by the wayside over the years. He hasn’t given up yet! This album I feel is a more commercial enterprise than his earlier albums, which trend towards the more Avant-guard and soundscape and may only appeal to a more narrow range of listeners. People that have talked with him have found that he appears to completely ignore the current trends and prefers to do just what he wants! He has worked with other musicians on his previous albums-(Galaxymachine and Necronomicon), but he prefers to work alone in his studio in the forest, going back to earlier times when he recorded Mooda in 94-95, when he lived on the Gold Coast of Australia. "Really original beats, good ideas, good sense of rhythm" "I enjoyed this album greatly and would encourage you to listen as well" "Incredible album, really different, fresh, bright and he is so spot on-really rocks!!! "Sense of timing really superb" Once again so elegant and not over produced - still retains the rawness of an independent thinker. Comments from listeners and purchasers.....
