Upon listening to Sandy Chochinov's - SWAMPLAND. Miles takes his stroll to lose those shopping mall jitters of his, but man, he can smell the very dust on the red desert highway. Awakening from his unusual dream, the silent storm surrenders to every crazy, fallen cowboy. Dressed to kill and marching to it, you feel the sirens sweet embrace. Jump started with some Philly soul you can leap into Topo Logic . This fresh 'breath of air' apologizes to no one. Gary Taylor / Sept. '07 Dear Music Lovers, What I have tried to do is create a true instrumental album. Not so much worrying about genre but thinking about each piece as a song. The focal point for most of the songs is the Saxophone . Leonard Shaw plays Tenor, Soprano and Baritone Sax. He also adds some Werlitzer electric piano to "Liquid Eyes" and "Truckin On". I love the energy he brings to the tracks. The rest of the album also features Laurie McKenzie soloing on "Don't Sit On The Fence" and "Swampland". "She Waved And Said Goodbye" and "Wild One" features Terry Barnett playing the guitar solos. Rubin Kantorovich adds some Dobro to "Trouble ON The Streets" and "52 Pickup". Stephen Arndt and Mitch Dorge bring their talents on the Drums to "She Waved And Said Goodbye"(Stephen) and "It's Love"(Mitch). The synth solo on "Storm" is played by Ron Reid. The contributions by these wonderful musicians cannot be overlooked.They gave these tracks energy and life from different perspectives. I enjoyed very much what they all played. I loved doing this project. Most of the work was done late at night when I came home from my job. Yes I do have a job and a family. This is my fifth instrumental album and perhaps my best album in the last five years. It also feels like an obvious different direction in the way I've been thinking about writing and playing music. My imagination took me in different directions that I needed to explore. Also thanks to my brother Barry for his visual sense to create a very original design for the album. Lori and Joachim for being. Also my Mom and Heather who have been so strong. And of course the main man, Stormin Norman who left us this past November. A true creative genius. I miss you Dad.
