简介
A Christmas Carol: 10th Anniversary Recording Music, Vocal Arrangements and Orchestrations by Steve Parsons Book and Lyrics by John Popa Recording produced by Martin Nielsen and Steve Parsons for Airborne Productions The newly revised version of the Steve Parsons/John Popa holiday classic musical A Christmas Carol comes to CD featuring a 22-piece orchestra and large cast. A faithful but fresh adaptation of the original novel by Charles Dickens, this sparkling score has been completely re-orchestrated by composer Steve Parsons and features brand new songs. A Christmas Carol was first performed in 1997 and enjoyed a highly successful four season run, garnering critical praise and enchanting audiences. When the opportunity came about to license the show, both authors felt a rewrite would enhance its already considerable appeal and realized a complete recording would be necessary to showcase the full vision to potential producers. Additionally, Parsons’ father was diagnosed with dementia, which provided an opportunity to work with the Alzheimer’s Association to not only produce a recording, but also benefit the Association’s efforts as a fundraiser. The CD features both a mix of returning actors and brand new faces, including the top notch vocal talents of Melissa Day, Barry DeBois, Jarid Faubel, Bryan Fetty, Teresa Houston, Alicia Malone, Amanda Medley, Stephanie Newport, Samuel Olin-Hitt, Chris Regan, Mike Skifstad, Merle Smith and Jon Tisevich. A Christmas Carol veteran John Capocci portrays Ebenezer Scrooge with relish after playing nearly every other major role over the course of the entire original run. Featured selections include the beautiful “Next Christmas,” “I Have To Know” and “A Child Alone” as well as the darkly humorous “We Build Ourselves Up” and festive numbers “The Season Starts Today” and “Beats The Dickens Out Of Me.” The recording is dedicated to Douglas C. Parsons and in memory of original A Christmas Carol director Bil Pfuderer and percussionist Kris Naragon. Two thirds of the money generated from album sales benefits the Alzheimer’s Association, providing hope for a cure while giving support to both patients and families.
