简介
The Deepdown is a band to watch. This New York City band is sure to be one of the great artistic contributors to the modern rock scene. The band is about originality and thoughtful insight. When you listen to The Deepdown, expect lush rock sounds with its tendrils dripping reggae, funk and Latin jazz. The Deepdown drops all pretenses; you get passion, compassion and natural mysticism served up with skill and force. The Deepdown shines with musical and lyrical integrity while pleasing the pop sensibilities. The listener is challenged to reframe their expectations and to shift gears from song to song. Drawing inspiration from many genres, The Deepdown has created a sound and style all their own. The members of The Deepdown, Tom Stabb; lead vocals and bass, Jesus Rodriguez; guitar, Chris DeRosa; drums, and Andrea Monorchio; Bass each come from very different musical backgrounds, which is one of the factors that contributes to their unique sound. Though influenced by numerous artists over the years, including The Clash, The English Beat, The Beatles, Bob Marley, U2 and The Cure, In 1995, Tom Stabb, finally found what was looking for, the catalyst to the evolving to the unique voice he is today. This happened at the Axis in Boston when he first saw Jeff Buckley. Years of beloved musical influences seemed to converge in this likeminded soul. It seemed to Tom that he and Jeff shared the same muse. The way Jeff commanded the full musical spectrum, embracing both masculine and feminine energies, Tom felt as though he was hearing his own musical yearnings being given perfect expression, but in a high tenor. Jeff offered a vision for Tom to ultimately develop a less acrobatic, but more soulful baritone. Which Tom poured into his song writing and performances over the next few years. In 2003, Tom met Jesus… Rodriquez, that is. They immediately formed a bond, not only as musicians, but also as friends. Tom’s Rock and Reggae style is balanced by Jesus’ Blues and Latin chops. Furthermore, Jesus’ fun loving, laid back attitude provides the perfect complement to Tom’s brooding earnestness. Performing together as a quartet for almost two years now, The Deepdown has continued to experiment with their sound and evolve as a band. The fact that the members of The Deepdown are so different from one another, has enabled them to create a unique sound that truly stands out among the homogenized popular music of today. With a blend of rock, reggae, and jazz, and pulsating Caribbean grooves, The Deepdown pulls you in and commands your attention; attention to the intricate melodies and to the evocative lyrics. Caring most about letting their music evolve with great artistic integrity, The Deepdown will continue to grow organically as a band, pulling from their varied experiences and muses, thus touching their audience with a sincere musical voice.
