It is hard to resist the cool and charismatic demeanour of the talented artiste and song writer Gong Royal. With an unmistakable yet versatile voice, Gong Royal's style perfectly embodies his Jamaican roots. Gong Royal is a singjay however he represents a new generation of artists that balances and blends different musical influences for a fresh, conscious and multi-genre sound. Born Keegan King of St. Mary Jamaica, Gong Royal has always been passionate about music especially dancehall and it is no surprise that his fascination began as early as childhood where he started a music group along with several of his friends. Dubbed as Bomb Rush, the group did very well and made a name for itself around St. Mary and quickly gained respect and love. As his popularity developed, Gong set his sights on seriously taking his talent to the studio and beyond. In search of a better life and career advancement, he moved to the United States. At this time, Gong aggressively pursued solo projects including songs like Nuff A Dem, Victory and Strive. Gong Royal has opened for many prominent artistes including Buju Banton, Beenie Man and Mr. Vegas. He has also worked with a number of producers such as Digiplay,, Ghetto Certified Records and High Expectation Production. Gong Royal was steadily pursuing his musical career when in spring 2009, tragedy struck. He sustained gunshot wounds and was told by doctors he would never walk again, at least not without amputation. However, being as resolute and optimistic as he is, Gong Royal didn't let that stop him, after numerous surgeries, news coverage, and a tarnished name; he defied the odds and got himself back on his feet. With renewed strength and a positive attitude Gong Royal is ready to take the world by storm. He continues to pursue his passion with the hope of one day making it on the big stage.
