In 2008, after a European tour, Gentry Bronson disappeared for 5 months in the Mayan Riviera. He reappeared in the U.S. in the Spring of 2009, and patiently began work on a new "mini-record". Produced by Gentry Bronson and Jesse Brewster (who also co-produced Gentry's 2008 single "Avond"), and recorded in Northern California at Shabbie Road studios by Alan Hertz (formerly of Garaj Mahal), this is Gentry Bronson's 2009 self-titled EP. In addition to Gentry and Jesse, other musicians on the album include drummer and Gentry's long time collaborator, Alex Aspinall (of Gentry's former band, the Night Watchmen), along with singer Allyson Paige and guitarist James DePrato (of Chuck Prophet). Mixed in Los Angeles at Blue Velvet studio by another of Gentry's long time collaborators, Brian Hawlk (composer & mixer for the “Diamond Confidential” soundtrack), and mastered by Ken Lee (who has done mastering work for Nirvana, R.E.M. and Sonic Youth), the record moves into yet more new musical territory for Gentry. Gentry began playing and performing at age 5, but emerged into the San Francisco scene after winning 3 Northern California Songwriters Association awards in 2000, and then forming the band, the Night Watchmen, in 2001. He released 3 records with the band from 2001 to 2005 including "Lost In California" and "Rain Come Down". Night Watchmen singles reached the top of both Mp3.com and Garageband.com's alternative music charts, and stayed there for months. At the same, Gentry started his solo music career, releasing the instrumental piano album "Tranquillo" in 2004 and the sparse singer-songwriter record "Home" in 2004. The Night Watchmen had their swan song in 2005, and Gentry focused on his solo work gaining an ever stronger and more wide spread international fan base as a soloist. In 2006, he worked with New Mexico multi-instrumentalist Dave Hoover to release the ambient instrumental record "Santa Fe Sky". At the same time, he put the finishing touches on his 2007 epic piano-based indie rock record "No War"featuring the single "Shine". Several tours of the U.S. and Europe later, Gentry continues to be an original, passionate and dedicated singer, songwriter, pianist, performer and producer. Track 1: Beautiful Ghost begins with an honest, supple, gentle introduction leading to Bronson’s smooth voice.  The drums push forth a more prominent, quicker beat that stirs throughout the entire song.  A moving electric guitar solo by co-producer Jesse Brewster highlights the honesty of the piece, and the chorus ends with the haunting words: “all I am is a beautiful ghost.” Track 2: Wild Women is a song about just that: women who “know how to live, flying on the wind…riding on the edge.”  The song is tightly organized, with Alex Aspinall’s drum playing well balanced against Bronson’s keys and Brewster’s guitars.  The song is one of two on the EP with an accompanying music video on the way, and with the emotional images the song portrays with its harmonies, one can see it being very successful. Track 4: 8th and Harrison is a piece invoking the film noir-like beauty of Bronson’s hometown of San Francisco.  There is a mysteriousness to the entire piece, invoked by Bronson’s sensitive piano-playing and the slow, dirge-like sense to the piece: ironic as 8th and Harrison is one of the busiest intersections in San Francisco wherein lies the entrance to the indispensable Bay Bridge.  It also conjures the ghost, an idea set forth by the first song on the EP and continued by this piece.  This song is the other of the two, and with the wondrousness of how it portrays a dreary, busy, yet lifeless part of town, the song vividly creates a mental video of its own.
