简介
The wonderfully romantic 2muchachos are based in Cherepovets - between Moscow and St. Petersburg. These three(!) young artists call themselves trusted "instruments" for the sounds and stories of the Russian forest. Put differently, they have turned the crackle and rustle of a tape-music aesthetic into a soundtrack for small-scale botanical bustle. The birds, insects, and flourishing plant-life of a northern forest all resonate. The LP is dedicated to the kinds of small, rhizomatic industry we barely ever notice. All of those phenomena happen everywhere, all at once. For that reason, no doubt, these 2muchachos recordings are entitled "The Forest Is Not What It Seems." It is, in fact, much more; it is home to things both visible and invisible. Our Cherepovets artists, bringing that picture to life, publish the album with a handful of small sentences: "We've been working on this for a couple of years. The LP was inspired by the forest, which remains a really important and special place [for us]. The forest reflects our internal world. It embodies what you might call our subconscious - a state that allows you both to perceive and analyze reality more accurately." Subconscious expression is seem in terms of directionless - perhaps ubiquitous - movement. It's a universal state is echoed in ambient patterns, electroacoustic sounds, and the lo-fi susurration of field recordings.
