ChAnGeR is a tall, muscular French-Indian (Mik Maq) conscious Emcee/Lyricist. His birth name is Joseph James. ChAnGeR hails from the gritty steel city, aka – Hamilton, Ontario, a 45 minute drive from Toronto. This Canadian Hip-Hop artist draws from his vast influences, ranging from being adopted and very isolated and confused as a child because of it, to countless inspirations he found through various artists, such as Tina Turner, The Beastie Boys, K.R.S.O.N.E., A Tribe Called Quest, AC/DC and especially GangStarr/DJ Premiere, Dre.Dre, Eminem, Pun and Timbaland. At 17, ChAnGeR went by the moniker “Hardlip”, then in the late 90′s “Beat-A-Myle”. That was the time his daughter Kylie was born and kept him going back to highschool after dropping out and being expelled twice. From 1992 to 1996 “The SystemEyed” was his first and only Hip-Hop/Rap Group. They met at Mac Nab high school when East Coast Hip-Hop influenced everything in their lives and culture. At 17 yrs old is also when ChAnGeR became a teen dad, which is an unreleased song and theme that plagues most of his lyrical caring and conscious content. Joseph/ChAnGeR was the first one in his biological families history to graduate high school, without doing a GED and also the first one to attend college, not just once, but 3 different colleges from 1996 to 2011. In the 90′s ChAnGeR performed at The X-Club, Concrete Canvas and highschool talent shows, as well as various house parties/basement jams with cru and friends. Self improvement, knowledge of self and edutainment is a crucial element to ChAnGeR’s chain of command. This 2014 summer sometime, T.B.D. will see “H-Dot-O” released. Details highlighting many perspectives this eclectic artist has developed because of being a single parent, are embodied in songs such as “My Handicap Dad”. The song describes societies illviews, his own families misguided reactions, as well as his own. Another intriguing and unique song is “When U Are Drinking” which features Burlington Ontario artist “P.O.E.”. A story based song like this, shed’s a humorous and serious light on the outcome of drinking irresponsibly around kids, family and the public.
