Derek John hails from the Historic Salem Village district of Danvers Massachusetts, a town steeped in legend, folklore, and mystery. He has been performing on stages throughout New England since 1992 beginning as a percussionist, drummer, bass player, and for the last 15 years as a singer-songwriter. He has opened for and shared the stage with many well known artists including The Marshall Tucker Band and Sawyer Brown, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Rex Trailer, Harper, Mighty Mystic, Beenie Man, Chad Hollister, Charlie Farren, Richard Rosenblatt, and Ken Clark, among many others. Derek John was a 2014 Blues Music Award Nominee for Best New Artist Debut as co-writer and drummer on the album Proof of Love by Gracie Curran & The High Falutin Band, and was also the 2013 Boston Blues Challenge Winner with Gracie, as the drummer and backup singer. Additionally, he was the 2009 Danvers Idol Competition Winner in his hometown of Danvers, MA.
