Addend is an electronic instrumental studio project that aspires to uplift and energize the listener. A mix of reverb rich guitars, lush synthesizers, and complex drum beats, it sets the film score for the constant connectedness and overstimulation we face everyday, and the resulting attraction to things that are nature and zen. This is great music for working and studying, and a great reminder to leave that all behind. This solo project is run by Jay G who plays guitars and keys, and painstakingly programs drumbeats, splices samples and loops, and maps out effect automation. All recordings and arrangements are put together in Ableton Live or Logic Pro. Jay is inspired by the likes of David August, Boards of Canada, Bonobo, The XX, Radiohead, Thrupence, Ratatat, The Album Leaf and Apparat. No. 2 is the product of a few years of writing and recording. It is a follow up to Addend's first album (aptly titled No. 1) which was released in 2017. During the five year stretch between the two releases there were at least 3 incarnations of the album, but none seemed to be quite there. There were more tracks thrown out than were used in this collection. Jay challenged himself to create an album where every track could stand by itself, and as a whole would create a cohesive and immersive listening experience.
