"If it nuh live; it dead" says the No-Maddz, the group live for live music, they have honed their craft to a point where all their albums are recoded live in one take! They only perform with their "Dihaadhaadban." ((English translation THE HARD-HARD-BAND)) All four members of the quartet are Jamaica Prime Minister's Youth Awardees for Excellence in the field of Arts and Culture; the highest state award for youth in Jamaica. The group's single "Rise above Profanity" is currently featured on the PUMA "FAAS" global campaign. The No-Maddz play the characters 'Rocker', 'Flex', 'And' and 'Groove' alongside world top athlete Usain Bolt. They have been featured on a number of Festivals in Europe, Asia and North America; Rhur, Reggae Jam and Daegu Festival to name a few. Their unique style involves Dub Poetry spiced with an array of different music genres, infused with the spirit of Jamaican Roots music. The premiere Dub Poetry group comprises of Sheldon "Shepie" Shepherd, Everaldo "Evie" Creary , Chris- topher "Birdie" Gordon, and O'neil "O'nie" Peart. Everaldo "Evie" Creary, Prime Minister Youth Award holder in the year 2005, has made significant contributions in the Jamaican Theatre and Film scene. He has starred in the Jamaican feature film "Better mus come" (2007) as the character "short man" and Andrea Levy's British TV Drama "Small Island" as "Elwood" (2010).He has also featured in a number of Jamaican plays with the hit "Jamaica 2 Rawtid" at the helm of them all. Sheldon "Shepie" Shepherd, Prime Minister Youth Award holder in the year 2006, was the lead actor in the Jamaican feature film "Better Mus Come" as the lead character "Ricky." He was the ambassador from Jamaica to China in the year 2005. Sheldon has been prized as one of Jamaica's youngest sensations as a writer with the Jamaican radio series "Outa Road" being one of his contribution to Jamaican Broadcasting. O'neil "O'nie" Peart, Prime Minister Youth Award hold in the year 2007, has guest starred in the film "Shattered Image" (1997). He was the ambassador from Jamaica to the Carib- bean in CARIFESTA in the year 2000 and was nominated for Best Lead Actor in the Island's leading Awards for Theatre Practitioners. O'nei's contribution to Jamaica has spanned beyond the call of duty to a productive and successful teaching career that sought to empower Jamaican Youths from 2002 to 2011. Christopher "Birdie" Gordon, Prime Minister Youth Award holder in the year 2009, was the first Jamaican to play Reggae music on the Huntington University Radio Station in the United States of America. There he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Media and Mass Communication. His mammoth contribution to Jamaican theatre saw him winning the Award for Best Musical Number in the Island's Actor Boy Award series and Best Actor in the Caribbean School's Drama Festival. The band relocated from the inner city of Kingston, to an east coast town called Bull Bay some people joke that Bull Bay should be re-named "Talent Bay" as many of Jamaicas emerging artist and musicians congregate there, it is also home to the jamaica youth surf team who all hang on beach and jam and play day and night. Shortly after the shooting of the feature length Film 'Better Mus Come" in the summer of 2007 that the group became integral with the making of Jamaica's most popular Jam session called "Jamnesia". The beach Jam at the surfer's HQ became the rehearsal ground for the group. They began to merge their Dub Poetry with other musical genres. For over three years, the biweekly jam-session grew steadily and was considered the "home" of the No-Maddz. In March 2010, after a three month hiatus from Jamnesia, the group recorded "The Trod" at Finnegans. It was the first official display of their music after 10 years of crafting. The Trod ( translates as"the path trodden") is the journey they are on as No-Maddz, it is a way of life communicated through poetry and music, its the title of their first world tour and First Album to be released in the coming year, all their album artwork shows the trod as a continuous piece of thread... the journey of life is woven in to the very fabric of our existence. The No-Maddz believe in the brotherhood of all , they live together, work together and play together - the essence by which they live can be heard in the multi-dynamic positive fusion which is their unique sound.
