简介
With a tongue-in-cheek image for the name and CD cover, these 14 tunes have absolutely nothing to do with ice cream… but they can offer up a lot of flavor for the listener. Their past musical endeavors have always had a core group of gifted contributing musicians on board and this one is no different. Chocked full and rich in texture with an upbeat variety of instrumentation to give it a contemporary acoustic feel, they’ve included some fine guitar, percussion and string arrangements with surprises, just to push those boundaries around a bit. The majority of the compositions are crafted by Ken Baldwin with an assembly of 10 vocals and 2 instrumentals in the cue. With the guitar and vocals recorded in South Carolina, the challenge was to create arrangements that would give each tune enough individual character and variety to counteract the invitation of sounding too similar in design…yet with still a ribbon of continuity. Sound Engineer & Producer Jerry Williams had the undertaking of recording and sifting through a myriad of tracks recorded from four different locations. Along with the task of making a cohesive end-product while navigating the murky waters of having everyone to find their place and to keep everything in sound order. Williams doubled up on an assortment of instruments to fill the gaps while wearing several hats in front of the microphone and at the engineering board. The talented David Wilson from Missouri provided wonderfully creative arrangements on 13 tracks manning the violin, mandolin and cello. Logan Baldwin had the assignment of finding a wide variety of rhythms and textures to give a sense of separation and individualism to each composition. All of his tracks were recorded in Brooklyn, NY. He also contributed a melody of his own to add to the collection. Igor Agafonov, a gifted guitar instrumentalist, is a surprising wild card in this equation. Included is one of his own compositions “Bossa Nova Voladora” along with his energetic improvisations on several other cuts. Alice Burton adds her hammered dulcimer touch to help keep things festive and lively on an overall quick-paced 53 minutes of some mighty good traveling music.
