Bassist/Composer Eric Warren is a singular voice in modern Jazz. He writes with the belief that melody is the most important part of all music. Eric Warren’s compositions connect with the listener on an emotional level. Melodies from this album remain stuck in the listener’s head for days. Expression and Reflection is his debut effort as a band leader. This lyrical album contains moments of high energy melodies reminiscent of Ornettte Coleman set against true moments of tender beauty. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, his music is inspired by the straight eights music of the ECM record label. His own playing contains elements of his heroes Charlie Haden and Anders Jormin. Eric Warren's dynamic group is made up of virtuoso pianist Ken Kehner, tenor saxophonist Joel Vanderheyden, and drummer Charlie Doggett. This expressive aggregate has created a truly outstanding statement of beautiful and progressive modern jazz.
