简介
Album notes: "In an industry full of cookie cutter type formulaic singers, Kym Brown stands out as a true artist in every sense of the word. Her music is rich and textural, encompassing a variety of influences with a distinct nod towards innovation rather than imitation." -Muzic Etc. Having been described as sounding like The Beatles meet Bjork, Cursery Rhymes delivers sweet melodies that pack a power punch in the aftertaste of sardonic lyrical underbelly, while gritty guitars and soaring extra-terrestrial synths sculpt an oddyssey of electro acoustic fusion in this playful art pop journey. Cursery Rhymes was written, recorded and mixed primarily at the home studio of UK dj producer and friend Lord Fader. Fader would go out to DJ at night, leaving Kym to work away until dawn at which time he'd arrive back and offer his advice and input on the work. In addition to production feedback & contribution Fader also rolled up his sleeves to do some punchy bass & drums production on Almost Happy, Fast As I Can, Whatever and Autoload. Other guest appearances on the album include John Fortis on live bass & moog and Sam Kelly on live drums. On "Doomed From The Start" Esme Folley contributed live cello and Talen Waver recorded an acoustic guitar track in Canada which he contributed online. While Kym did the bulk of the mixing herself with feedback from Lord Fader & U2 Irish engineer/producer Richard Rainey, Lord Fader mixed Autoload, Rainey contributed a full mix of Arms Length, John MacArthur Ellis mixed Tell Me Now and Gareth Parton completed the mix on Almost Happy. Both Mark Henning and Gareth Parton contributed mix elements to Fast As I Can. While Lord Fader mixed Autoload , Brown crafted the reprise at the end of the mix at a later time.
