简介
The tumbling toms of "Falling Sun" suggest that Music From Memory sub-label Second Circle might be a perfect fit for Tornado Wallace, as those sumptuous, tribal drums sound like heir apparent to Montezumas Rache's "Wu Du Wu," a label classic. Day's rolling beat is mesmeric on its own, but as his track climbs higher, a gleaming arpeggio ever so slowly dilates the space and rises to the top. "Singing Planet" sounds like where the drums on Mariah's "Shinzo No Tobira" might have ended up ten minutes after the song ended. When a high, poignant melody wafts across midway through, it's a beguiling bit of beauty amid the beast. "Kakadu" is the EP's highlight. A slow-phasing cymbal hiss plunges into a drum circle and then the track swings between the sounds. At the midpoint, a rolling snare break is offset by a chopped high frequency. It's not strictly Balearic, but listen closely and you'll hear the sound of seagulls circling both above and in your head.
