Spencer Bell passed away at the age of twenty in 2006 from a rare cancer (Adrenal), but left behind a great catalog of personally recorded, original music. Brain is his third album (the first two being "Feudal, Brutal and the American Dream" and the second, "Live and Wasted". Unlike the first two albums, Brain is a collection of songs that Spencer had been working on for various projects and they've been compiled here in a great track order by Ben Johnson (100 Monkeys and former Stevedores band mate of Spencer's) and other musical/artist friends. Department of Motor Vehicles is the one track which has other artists: Christopher Baran (guitar). Pierce Codina (drums) and Brian Baker (bass) actually composed and played the music with Spencer contributing lyrics and vocals. All other music is strictly Spencer on guitar, garage-band or making other noises.......including the amazing four part harmony using his own over-dubs on the beautiful song, "ah".
