简介
"Let's Ride" is a collection of songs recorded in 1987 -- featuring the very first line-up of The Redeemers, including Paul Guss on bass and backing vocals, Mark Mansfield on keyboards and lead vocals, Richard Stone on guitar and backing vocals, and the legendary Woody Woodson on drums. A native Washingtonian who played drums for some of the greatest singers in history, playing for artists like the Temptations, the Four Tops, The Supremes, The Drifters, and Steve Wonder, Woody spent years on the road with Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye. One of the biggest hits he collaborated on was the Isley Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing.” Grammy-winning musician Steve Jordan, who plays for Eric Clapton and Keith Richards, has said Woody's drumming on that song inspired him: “He’s one of the greatest of all time and a deep influence on me." Richard Stone began his professional career in Little Royal & the Swingmasters doing soul music on "the chitlin' circuit." (Little Royal was renowned for his claim of being "The Second Hardest Working Man in Show Business," in homage to James Brown's famous tag.) Richard moved on to Country & Western, playing in Tex Rubinowitz & the Casaloma Cowboys, and also backed up the legendary Otis Blackwell. All the songs on the CD are originals, except for "Oh, What A Night for Love," which was made a hit by the late Roy Tyson.
