Muñecas is a band from San Francisco that mixes punk rock and dark wave musical styles with postcolonial drag, responding to their experiences as queer, and their cultural heritage as mixed Chicanas. They are frequent performers at local music venues such as SF Eagle, SF Oasis, The Folsom Street Fair, El Rio, Club Some Thing, The Monster Show and have opened for such acts as Pansy Division, Torche and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. The average Muñecas show is often equal parts music performance as it is drag. They don’t wear those outfits for nothing! Their songs range from stories about race and gender, to cautionary tales of boundaries, and even songs about fantasy realms, gods and monsters.
