简介

Montgomery and Stephens are talented young musicians who are equally at home with Bluegrass and Old-Time music. Here, in 15 cuts, they present a nice assortment of songs from such different sources as Charlie Poole, Uncle Dave Macon, The Lewis Family, Rebe & Rabe, Blind Alfred Reed, the Blue Sky Boys and Mac O’Dell. Stephens is a fine three-finger style banjo picker, and Montgomery takes you back to pre-WWII style country music with his renditions of knockdown banjo and singing from the likes of Uncle Dave Macon and Louis Marshall "Grandpa" Jones, as well as guitar. Robert Montgomery was born October 20, 1983 and grew up in Moulton, Alabama. Robert was introduced to old time mountain music when he was around three years old. His father listened to the Grand Ole Opry every Saturday night on the family's radio. When Robert was 12 years old, he took guitar lessons from Mr. Jeriel Parker and learned the basics. He taught himself banjo from listening to Grandpa and Oswald on the Opry, and he further learned from his friend, Leroy Troy. He graduated from Lawrence County High School and Auburn University, and has placed or won in literally dozens of regional and national contests, including the 2004 Old-Time Banjo National championship at Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, one of the premium music contests in the South. Montgomery has also won awards for old-time singing, Appalachian folk singing, mandolin, and guitar. He has been featured on on a number of television and radio programs including RFD-TV’s “Cumberland Highlanders’ Show”, and WSM Radio’s “Ernest Tubb Record Shop’s Midnite Jamboree” and “Opry Star Spotlight”. Montgomery is known for his wit and stage-presence as well as his musical talent. Jeremy Stephens was born in Lynchburg, VA and raised in Danville, VA. Having fallen in love with traditional blue grass and old time music at an early age, he began playing fiddle and banjo at age 5, and sometime later picked up the guitar. He began playing with a blue grass band at age 10. For years, banjo has been Jeremy's primary instrument. He has played banjo with several bluegrass groups over the last 20 years. Jeremy graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, but has chosen to pursue music, his lifelong passion.
