Rebikov was already a forgotten figure by the time of his death at age 54. He was bitter and disillusioned,sincerely convinced that composer such as Debussy,Scriabin,and Stravinsky had made their way into public prominence through stealing his ideas. Rebikov was the first to compose minimalistic music even though the notion did not even exist at his time.His latest works carry an imprint of primitivism.
