简介
The second CD from Norfolk's Finest Murder Balladeers is another fantastic collection of traditional death songs and murder ballads from deep in the dark heart of country music. The Henry Brothers' vocal artistry, always notable for it's glowing intensity, is heard heard here in thirteen songs that they have helped make memorable either as single record hits, such as 'Ballad Of The Lawson Family', or in public performance. The Henry brothers have their special way of making their mood spring unforgettably to life. The title track, the beautiful murder ballad, 'Dark Waters', is brought to you with only their spine-tingling close harmony vocals, which gives the haunting lyrics an especially sensitive reading. The Henry brothers have always had a way with traditional death songs, flooding them with warmth and spontaneity, they make them as new for their listeners. Whether they're singing of infant death such as 'The Little Girl And The Awful Dreadful Snake', parental Death as in Little Benny' and 'No Home, No Place to Pillow My Head', or murder most foul on 'Knoxville Girl', and 'Henry Lee'. The Henry Brothers give their tender reading of 'Down In The Willow Garden', one of their favourites, adding their own style to a song much performed by the classic 'Brother' Harmony acts of the 30's that they so love and admire.
