Diane Roblin, Grand Piano, Fender Rhodes Jeff King, Tenor saxophone Russ Boswell, electric and acoustic bass Roger Travassos - drums Howard Spring, guitar Diane Roblin’s RECONNECT is the debut release from an exciting five piece band that came together to play and explore Diane’s compositions - an original mix of jazz, fusion and funk which encourages going energy. . RECONNECT features Diane on Grand Piano and the Fender Rhodes. Her talented ensemble of Canada’s most sought-out musicians, Jeff King, tenor sax, Roger Travassos, drums, Howard Spring, guitar and Russ Boswell on electric and acoustic bass, is explosive and supports her unique compositions that the listener will find surprising and engaging. Diane’s intricate and emotional solo acoustic piano track, “Tune For Fraser”, provides a stage for her unique style which is influenced by classical, funk, and jazz (Debussy, Bartok, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Cecil Taylor). “Fasten Your Seatbelt” excites with its hard driving fusion sound, while “Suspend Yourself” takes the listener into a world of 7/4 and expands the imagination. Her ballads such as “Renewed on Thanksgiving Day, are soulful and resonate far beyond the last note. "A Final Thought" leaves the listener with an uplifted feeling. Diane’s compositions are diverse, spirited and played with passion. RECONNECT is high energy music from the heart. Born in Buffalo NY, Diane continued her music education at York University in Toronto, Canada. Her studies were eclectic and wide-ranging including electronic music, ethnomusicology, jazz improvisation, and classical piano. She attended the Karl Berger/Ornette Coleman intensive workshop in Woodstock, and NYC playing with Dave Holland, Jack deJohnette, Lee Konitz,and other notable musicians. During her career, Diane has led and played in many diverse bands . Her solo piano concerts provide a stage for Diane to express her own unique voice. Along with her five piece funk-jazz band Reconnect, she also enjoys playing free improvised music and experimental music. Diane has performed internationally at Ronnie Scott's in London UK and in Cannes, Antibes and Juan les Pins, south of France. Diane plays high energy music from the heart.
