It's always a challenge trying to describe your own material, so, instead of all that, here's some of the feedback we've gotten for "Eight". "Such interesting juxtapositions of lyrics/meaning against the tilt or direction of the melody as in: "The Day the Sun Went Out--- with its lilting, almost dancing melody, yet the lyrics are strangely terrifying." "Blood Meridian" feels damning (which of course it is) The human depravity of Cormac McCarthy's story is so curtly outlined in the song… all the indicators to take the listener back to the story are there. I got the connection right away, and read that book 20 years ago. Even the judge. Great lyric: "I've seen simple damnation-Pure as the driven rain-Orejas strung on a necklace-And an idiot tethered by a chain" I totally love these lines from "Your Hometown": "Have pity on the mule- Lonesome for his plow- I bet it's halfway to Iowa by now." "Walk On"…."maybe my favorite. haunting, harmonic, lyrics lead the imagination, somehow reminds me of north dakota. Almost a discord in final note before the whistling, which is a great touch (who can whistle like that?)" "Callin' Down The Rain" - is so desperate in its non-acknowledgement of loss…a guy perspective I guess, including the upbeat living it up chorus. intriguing….
