Russ Landery has emerged onto the music set, The artist is destined for legendary status with simple soul music as his gift to the industry. We haven't had such freshness since Marley, Russ is kind of an old school funk throw back mixed with a passion in his music for the underprivgled and overlooked. His songs are of hope and inclusion. A bass master with the nickname, "Legendary" for his funky playing style. Russ is a name we will remember and look forward for new music from now on since he has introduced us to his soulful sound. Recently on an interview with KBWC Radio in Texas Russ stated,” I speak for those that greed in our society wishes to quiet". Russ has performed in Ghana, Malaysia, Singapore and all across the US. He has a special gift for blending; Reggae, Blues and Rock and Soul into the form of funk fusion music, with thought provoking lyrics. Clearly on this album Russ holds nothing back. Born in Southern IL (DuQoin) and raised in a loving home just outside of Chicago in Joliet; Russ and his 7 siblings survived a poverty filled life with a single mother stuck outside of the city limits. They didn't have running water or a bathroom in the home until he was age of 15. Like the rest of the neighborhood kids, Russ spent lots of time listening to the radio and mimicking Motown Legends like the Temptations and The Jackson 5. The kids on the block called "The Road"(Patterson Road, part of the south side of town) also loved; Booker T and The MG's, BB King, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Jimmi Hendrix, Marvin Gay, The Dells, Santana and Sly And The Family Stones. Several local bands and singing groups kept the community in tune with new music, often singing on corners and participating in talent shows. Russ, when asked of his musical influences states,” I just want to keep Soul music alive. I love all music, it's the ultimate language of the world. There's so many people who gave me a life example to follow and most of them came from my neighborhood growing up. Every thing I sing about is real to me, I just repeat what I've seen through my window or have felt in my heart. I just want to pick you up, touch your soul and take you on a little ride".
