简介
“Life in the City” opens with a jazzy flavor, then merges into segments that hint of Cream, Hendrix, and Genesis. The verses are told with a zesty country swing cadence. The drummer, Gregg Bissonette, brings a magnificent Chester Thompson pizzazz to the track. The story involves two birds having a day of it in the city and later at the racetrack. The choral take in the song’s latter portion refers to man of any ilk repeating the theme of construction/de-construction of their respective civilizations—based on the practice of making God extant or extinct in their civilization. The winged pair are indifferent, yet indirectly affected.
